Quinn (Lower Sixth) Highly Commended in a Cambridge University Essay Competition
Well done to Quinn (Lower Sixth) for being Highly Commended in a Cambridge University Essay Competition. Run annually by Trinity College, The Robert Walker Law Essay Competition, is named after the Rt Hon. The Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe GBS PC (1938–2023), a former Trinity College law student and Honorary Fellow from 2006, judicial member of the House of Lords from 2002 and Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom from its creation in 2009 until his retirement in 2013.
The essay title was "What legal issues might arise from prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to anyone born after 2008?". Feedback from the judges for Quinn’s submission stated “The range of issues discussed is strong, and the use of a range of legal sources is excellent. Use of secondary literature was not only appropriate, but critically discussed and explained, which was very rare among submissions.” Quinn was placed in the top 10% of the 244 entries received from across the UK and was accordingly invited to a Prize Giving ceremony and afternoon tea at Trinity College in June.
We are delighted to hear this news, and are proud of Quinn’s outstanding achievement.
