Sixth Form Students attend one-day conference at the British Film Institute (BFI) on London's South Bank

Last term, our Sixth Form Students studying French A Level attended a one-day conference at the British Film Institute (BFI) on London's South Bank, analysing the style and themes of the French New Wave. Students spent time studying how it influenced subsequent French films made in the 1990s and 2000s and its impact on contemporary French cinema. The morning's material was delivered in French through an interactive session, during which students contributed ideas and made notes. In the afternoon, students watched Mathiew Kassovitz's critically acclaimed 1995 film, "La Haine", enabling them to enhance their film analysis and language skills, as well as inviting them to engage in political discussion and to deepen their understanding of the film's cultural impact.

The conference was a fantastic opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the rich world of French cinema and its significance on the cultural landscape. With our thanks to Mrs Williams for facilitating this visit.
